YU Women’s Tennis Suffers First Loss of Year; Clinches Spot in Skyline Championships

The Yeshiva University women’s tennis team suffered a close Skyline Conference loss to St. Joseph’s L.I., 5-4, out on Long Island on Wednesday evening. It is just the first loss of the year for the Maccabees, who have clinched a berth in the upcoming Skyline Conference Championships that begin on October 28.

In singles, junior Shani Hava was victorious in the number one position, 6-2, 6-0, while sophomore Rebecca Packer won a close fourth flight, 1-6, 6-0, 6-2. Senior Jenny Tepler also won the rubber set in her match, at #5 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, junior Adele Lerner and senior Lindsay Frucher won a close third flight, 9-7.

Yeshiva will compete in a semifinal match of the Skyline Conference Championships on Friday, October 28. Opponent and location is to be determined.
