9/11 Ceremony Held at Newark International Airport

(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) On Monday, Sept. 12, a 9/11 ceremony was held at the headquarters of Newark International Airport attended by Port Authority police and James Gill, general manager of New Jersey airports at the Port Authority, who served as the emcee of the program.

At the event, Gill spoke about the nearly 3,000 people who perished 21 years ago, and how they will be forever remembered. Insp. Kevin Fowler, chief of Port Authority police, spoke of the bravery of police who sacrifice their lives to save people, and their remarkable courage following the tragedy of 9/11 in their rescue mission.

Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky spoke how the memory of the 9/11 victims must be transmitted to action by performing good deeds. “Through positive gestures and goodwill one to another, we will ultimately make the world a better place; a place of peace, harmony and respect, devoid of war and bloodshed,” he said.

Rabbi Kanelsky invited Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky, director of the Jewish information stand at the airport, to join in the memorial. Rabbi Avremy blew the shofar as a preparation for the New Year when we coronate God as our King. He also performed a memorial service in memory of those who perished on 9/11.
