Kosher Beef Jerky? What Will They Think of Next?

How many times have you watched people walk out of a 7-Eleven, bodega or depanneur (as they call it in Quebec) with a purchase of beef jerky? Generally, it is bought on impulse as it lies on the counter while they are checking out. Believe it or not, beef jerky is a $1.5 billion dollar industry in the United States. It looks like a fun snack even though it would then deem us fleishig.

No worries, we can now be like everyone else. Aufschnitt Meats has now introduced to the kosher market a healthy meat snack that is low in fat, high in protein (8g per serving) and bursting with flavor. The jerky comes in four flavors and is the perfect snack for people on the go. Definitely it is much more nutritious than grabbing a bag of chips! The jerky comes in four flavors: original, BBQ, spicy and teriyaki. It is gluten free and under the Star-K hashgacha.

Along with the beef jerky, Aufschnitt Meats produces beef sticks in five flavors. The products are all natural. Within a few months the exciting new turkey jerky is expected to make its debut. It will be significantly lower in saturated fat than lean beef, and is still deliciously flavorful.

The thrill of going to 7-Eleven, buying a refreshing slurpee and then biting into this new kosher snack is easily available for us to do. The 7-Eleven at 107 Cedar Lane does sell the kosher treat as do several local kosher establishments. Enjoy something new—put it into your children’s lunches and listen for the rave reviews.
