Highlighting: “Chanukah with Root & Tooty” by Leah Urso. Morah Leah Publishing. 2022. English. Paperback. 50 pages. ISBN-13: 978-1735194141.
Quite by chance, I was given the opportunity to review this fun Chanukah book for all little and bigger children. Perfect for emas and abbas to read to their children, grandparents to share with their “nachas” and older brothers and sisters to read to their younger siblings.
It was through a chance encounter at the Crush Cookie Bar that I had the pleasure of meeting Leah and Yoseph Urso, who recently relocated to Englewood from Sefat. A strange move, one might think, but their children and grandchildren are now living in Tenafly and who wants to be away from grandchildren? Some may know Leah as a teacher at Sinai@Maayanot.
Leah, the author of several children’s books, and Yoseph, her illustrator, are a talented couple whose strengths lie in many areas.
Yoseph is also the creator of numerous videos and comic books for children and Leah is also a musician, with the violin being her instrument of choice.
Lamenting the fact that their children will not be visiting for Chanukah, the story is of an older couple who fall upon a “lost” carrot and strawberry who meander into their lives and bring their friends along to have a freilichen Chanukah.
Beautiful illustrations combined with a fun story line, this book will absolutely enchant my grandchildren and I am sure all of yours.
“Chanukah with Root and Tooty” is available at the Judaica House and on Amazon. Your kids will love it.
Happy Chanukah!
