(Courtesy of Chabad of WO) Menorah lighting ceremonies with the township mayors and local dignitaries are scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 7 at 4 p.m. at the West Orange Town Hall and at 6 p.m. at Roseland Borough Hall. The ceremonies will include a special prayer for Israel and the IDF, and the safe return of the hostages. Refreshments will be served.
On Shabbat Chanukah, Friday, December 8, there will be a Chanukah and Shabbat candle lighting at 4 p.m., followed by a spirited Kabbalat Shabbat service. A delicious dinner will begin at approximately 5 p.m. and will include singing and storytelling. Kiddush will be recited for the hostages and the men and women in the IDF. Reservations are required. On Motzei Shabbat, Saturday evening, December 9, beginning at 8:30 p.m., there will be a Chanukah concert featuring a house band that will play folk/rock style as well a wide variety of genres. Songwriter and Jewish rap artist Jesse Marcus will make a special appearance. Adult beverages and refreshments will be served and Chanukah Bingo will be played. The concert is for adults only and will be held at Chabad of West Orange, 401 Pleasant Valley. The concert is free, but please RSVP at [email protected]
A Chanukah family fun party will be held on Tuesday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m. This event will focus on families with young children but is open to everyone. Dreidels will be available; doughnuts will be served; Chanukah music will be played, and Chanukah Bingo and other games will be enjoyed by everyone.
