TABC Varsity Hockey Remains Unbeaten

Just two nights after blanking the Ramaz Rams 4-0 at home, the TABC varsity hockey team played host again, this time to the Frisch Cougars, on Thursday night, December 5. The last time these two rivals met was in the very first game of the season when the Storm came out on top 5-1. Since then, the Cougars have won five straight and were out to seek revenge. Frisch was able to keep TABC’s attack at bay until the halfway mark of the first period when senior Aryeh Simon roofed one into the corner on a breakaway. A few minutes later, senior Noam Becker won a face-off in the Frisch zone and junior Jaden Leffel’s shot from the point landed into the net. Simon scored his second of the night right before intermission, connecting beautifully on a ball off the wall. It appeared the Storm were in cruise control winning the next period again 3-0 via goals from Simon, and fellow seniors Akiva Mittel and Aryeh Eizikovitz. Simon finished with four goals on the night, senior Shia Forgash recorded another shutout, and the Storm ended up on top by a final score of 7-0 to sweep the season series over Frisch.

On Sunday, December 8, the team traveled to Yeshiva University for a Sunday matinee game against the MTA Lions. The Storm were looking to continue their undefeated streak, and they did just that, winning two goals to none each period. The first period featured goals from seniors Ethan Mauskopf and Yonatan Brothman. Simon and senior Aiden Rauzman tacked on goals in the second, and a 3-on-3 goal from senior Bentzion Keiser—and a second Simon goal off the powerplay—rounded out the scoring in the final period. The Storm won by a final score of 6-0. Forgash continued his shutout streak between the pipes and everybody on the team got to check into the game at some point. The Storm are now a perfect 8-0 on the season.
