Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Each week, the Shabbos Abba dives down deep into his sock drawer to find the perfect pair of Shabbos Socks for the parsha. Can you find the connection? The poem is your clue … and the rest is up to you!

Are you ready??? Let’s get socking!!!

Hope you can guess the secret of these socks

Without too much of a fight,

They are hinting to something in our Parsha

That happened in the middle of the night

Answer and Parsha Thought Question

Hello my sock-tastic sidekicks! Hopefully by now you’ve figured out that this week’s Shabbos Socks remind us of Yaakov’s nighttime wrestling match with the mysterious malach who gave Yaakov his new name—Yisrael!

And now for this week’s bonus Parsha Thought Question:

In our Parsha, Yaakov sends many gifts to his brother Eisav before they meet, hoping that the gifts will help Eisav forget his anger over what Yaakov had done many years before. Imagine that you have a sibling or friend who was feeling upset about something you did, and you wanted to send them a gift to say “I’m sorry.” What kind of gift would you send?

Sockcerely Yours,

The Shabbos Abba (aka Chaim Kagedan)
