Dear Shayna,

I share a room with my sister, Jessica, and I am never alone. While this may seem like a good thing, and sometimes it is, I still need my own space. I don’t want her to help herself to my things and I want my quiet time to be respected. How can I handle this situation?

Thanks,

Annoyed Andrea

Dear Annoyed Andrea,

I understand how sharing a room may be difficult and that you feel Jessica invades your privacy. Have you ever tried talking to her about this? If not, try talking to her in a nice, but firm way. She will understand and not take offense. It might be a little difficult, but you can do it. And when you’re done you will get your privacy and keep your relationship with your sister.

Best of luck,

Shayna B
