YCT Rabbinical School Convenes Leaders & Rabbis to Tackle Climate Crisis

(Courtesy of YCT) Yeshivat Chovevei Torah invites the community to join its Second Annual Climate Conference, to be held on Zoom this Sunday, July 25, beginning at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Panelists and speakers include a variety of communal leaders and scholars from the U.S. and Israel, including Rabbis David Bigman, Yuval Cherlow, Barry Kornblau, Benny Lau and Daniel Wolf; Rabbanit Dr. Michal Tikochinsky; and Rabbi Dov Linzer, YCT’s president and rosh HaYeshiva. YCT faculty members Rabbi Steven Exler, Dr. Michelle Friedman and Rabbi Haggai Resnikoff, among others, will also speak.

The event will tackle Torah texts relating to climate change and the Jewish community’s obligation to responsibly address this global challenge. The conference will also examine the current effects of the climate crisis on communities in New York and beyond. Breakout sessions will focus on a number of questions, ranging from how to “green” one’s synagogue to how and why climate change became a politicized issue in some parts of the Jewish community.

This conference is part of YCT’s ongoing climate Torah series and is part of a suite of programs marking the upcoming shemitah year.

The program will include live closed-captioning and ASL interpretation.
