In what might be her last important act as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley is going after Hamas.
And rightly so.
It is our hope that civility and reason and force will send a message to this despicable terrorist group on Thursday when the U.N. General Assembly, not known for its spinal fortitude, will vote on a U.S. resolution to condemn Hamas.
Already, the resolution has the support of the European Union. It would condemn the unbridled Hamas rocket attacks against Israel and its civilian population. And believe it or not, this would be the first condemnation Hamas has ever received from the U.N. General Assembly. The FIRST TIME!
That is more unconscionable than the countless times the body has chosen to condemn the Jewish state.
Indeed, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations stated: “If the U.N. cannot bring itself to adopt this resolution, then it has no business being involved in peace discussions.”
Hamas’s stated goal is to destroy Israel. It is more than resistance; it is a mandate of nothing short of, excuse us, a final solution. It is difficult and frustrating to even try to grasp how the U.N. does not get its arms around the very blight that Hamas gives to this world, like an incurable infection.
Nikki Haley, we’re going to miss you. At least you have set the U.S. on a right path in the United Nations. Now you’re trying to put the rest of the body on that path.
We already miss you.
