A Rainy Day Couldn’t Keep Yiddle League at Bay

With some rain coming down on Sunday morning, it appeared that the Yiddle League games would be rained out yet again. However, with the boys in school on Sunday morning and the games scheduled for late Sunday afternoon, we held out hope that we would be able to play. The rain stopped, the numerous fields were surprisingly in decent shape and the 19 games went on as scheduled. There were some defensive gems on the day, including Sruly Weichbrod’s highlight-reel diving catch, as well as Dovid Abramoff’s game-saving catch to conclude a 4-3 victory for the Industrial IQ IronBirds.

The boys were right back at it on Monday afternoon following school, and there were some nail-biters and walk-off hits, including a seven run rally by the Fireflies with Dovy Peikis getting the walk-off hit and Yehoshua Goldberg snagging a line drive in the outfield with two guys on base to secure a 4-3 win for the Rothenberg Law Firm Fightin’ Phils. This weekend was the start of the Yiddle League Midos Awards Program, an integral component of the Yiddle League experience.
