Yakira Bella is introducing its resort wear/spring collection this week with pre-ordering online. Emily Gerszberg, who began the brand one year ago, brings to the line her careful observation of general trends—what people are wearing, what the market is reacting to and what colors are being highlighted—and adds her interpretation. “As a brand, I take in all the information I’m seeing out there and serve it with a twist that makes it my own,” she said. Gerszberg also incorporates knowledge gained from her year of interacting with customers. “I observed what people took into the dressing room. I saw that some styles were best sellers and others weren’t right for this market.” She tweaked her manufacturing process behind the scenes as well, working with factories that didn’t correctly produce the fit she wanted when she launched.
For 2020, Gerszberg is bringing back the “Mali” dress in a variety of colors. Blush pink and blue are still popular and fuchsia is being added. “It’s so phenomenal, any body type can wear it,” she said. “You are covered but the gauze fabric is not heavy. It feels airy, cool and comfortable.” The Mali comes in a just-below-the-knee length, with a separate three-inch extension included that can be attached by a seamstress, and a maxi version. Yakira Bella is introducing a gauze skirt with a similar flow to the Mali dress, and a gauze sun dress. Gerszberg noticed women wearing sun dresses over t-shirts with three-quarter sleeves, and added this new silhouette to the collection.
Florals are still popular. Yakira Bella has a floral dress with ruffles on the slightly puffed sleeves and additional feminine details. The “Julia” dress is also coming back. It can be dressed up with a belt and heels or worn casually, with sandals.
Yakira Bella’s signature athletic skirts can be worn year-round. A spring variation is the “Jacqueline” dress, a French terry version comfortable in any season.
Light-weight sweater tops, with tipping around the neck to match a skirt, are coming in bright colors. For a complete outfit, match with a two-tone slip skirt, or a pleated skirt in jewel tones of raspberry, purple or golden yellow.
The gauze collection will be in the Teaneck store, 1377 Queen Anne Road, the first week in January, with the rest of the collection following in February. To pre-order, visit Yakira Bella at www.yakirabella.com.
