As a way to educate and encourage students to consider elder care and related professions as career paths, Age Friendly Teaneck will sponsor a four-week Exploring Careers in Aging Internship for four outstanding and motivated high school juniors or seniors this summer.
Each student will receive a $1,500 stipend, thanks to a grant from a small family foundation.
The program, which starts on July 8, is open to rising high school juniors and seniors who reside in Teaneck and attend schools in the area. The deadline to apply is April 26.
The 2024 internship will again combine a dynamic curriculum, real-world experience and one-on-one connections with professionals in the fields of geriatric-related social work, geriatric wellness, technology, home care, recreation, food service, housing, elder law, design and construction, and business management. Interns will be supervised by a team of seasoned and knowledgeable professionals from The Bright Side Family.
