Agudath Sholom to Host Rabbi Yoni Rosensweig, Speaking on Mental Health and Jewish Law

Agudath Sholom is pleased to welcome Rabbi Yoni Rosensweig, the spiritual leader of the Netzach Menashe community in Beit Shemesh, who will deliver a lecture on “Modern Jewish Approaches to Mental Health Challenges” at the synagogue on Monday evening, April 17 at 8 p.m..

Rabbi Rosensweig is an instructor at Midreshet Lindenbaum, and is the founder of Maaglei Nefesh, an institute addressing mental health issues in Jewish law. He received his rabbinic ordination at Yeshivat Birkat Moshe in Maale Adumim, through the Chief Rabbinate in Israel and from Rabbi Nachum Eliezer Rabinovitch. He has degrees in education, history, and philosophy. Rabbi Rosensweig is the author of several books, including Yishrei Lev, a three-volume set of responsa published in 2015; Conversations in Essence, imaginary conversations with great Jewish thinkers of the past; and the soon-to-be-published Nafshi Beshe’elati, on Jewish law and mental health.

“Rabbi Rosensweig is one of the foremost experts on dealing with mental health issues as they intersect with Jewish law,” said Michael Feldstein, a member of the Adult Education Committee at congregation Agudath Sholom. “We are privileged to be able to bring him to our community, as he is extremely sensitive to the mental health challenges that many families are facing while trying to maintain their adherence to halachic practices.”

The program is free and open to the entire community.
