AMIT National Dinner Will Honor Three NY Metro Families

AMIT, Israel’s premier education network, will honor three New York-area families for their commitment and dedication to the mission of providing innovative education to Israel’s children at its annual national dinner on Sunday, Nov. 20, at Pier Sixty in Manhattan. The honorees are Deena and Adam Shiff of Manhattan, two generations of the Miller family of Manhattan and Great Neck, New York, and Amanda and Isaac Benishai of Riverdale, New York.

Deena and Adam Shiff will be recognized as the Guests of Honor. The Shiffs have supported the work of AMIT for many years and Deena serves as AMIT’s vice president of financial resource development and is the past chair of NewGen. Adam Shiff is a partner at the Manhattan law firm Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman. The Shiffs reside in Manhattan with their three sons.

The Miller family will be honored with the L’dor V’dor Award, celebrating their family’s multi-generational involvement with the organization over the past three decades. Accepting the award will be Leon Miller and his wife, Gloria, from Great Neck, and Leon’s children, Edward, Sari and Howard, who reside in Manhattan and Israel. The Miller family recently dedicated a synagogue in memory of Symma Berman Miller, z” l, Leon’s late wife, at the AMIT Beersheva School. The Millers are the proprietors of Miller Realty Associates in Glen Cove, New York.

Amanda and Isaac Benishai will receive the Young Visionary Award. The Benishais have supported the work of AMIT for many years and together they currently serve as the associate chairs of AMIT’s Young Leadership Board. Isaac Benishai works in commercial real estate and Amanda is a lawyer. The Benishais reside in Riverdale, New York, with their daughter.

“The honorees represent the best of our American supporters who work tirelessly to help us fulfill our mission of educating Israel’s future leaders,” said AMIT National President Debbie Moed.

“The Shiffs, the Millers and the Benishais have time and again shown their strong support for AMIT and our mission to delivering cutting-edge education to Israel’s diverse population, closing the opportunity gap for children, while instilling Jewish values.”
