Bar Mitzvah of Sam and Ben Richman

Sam and Ben Richman celebrated their bar mitzvah on 22 Shevat, Parshat Yitro (February 17-18, 2017) at Congregation Beth Abraham, in Bergenfield. Rabbi Moshe Tzvi Weinberg officiated. The twins, in seventh grade at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey, are the sons of Mandy and Cory Richman of Bergenfield and grandsons of Hedy and Jay Richman of Teaneck, and Clara and Ervin Rosenfeld of Manhattan.

The boys shared their simcha with a division of roles that allowed each one to shine. Their grandfather, Jay Richman, taught each boy how to lein half the parsha. The boys divvied up the Aseret Hadibrot, the haftarah, and speeches for Shabbat dinner and lunch. Both spoke about Jews receiving the Torah, the richness of their heritage and the importance of unity for the Jewish people. A shared melave malka celebration at Keter Torah in Teaneck displayed their unity: a logo with each initial, S for Sam and B for Ben, plus Richman. Mrs. Richman said J-ADD, a vocational program for Jewish adults with disabilities, created beautiful floral centerpieces for the tables and she encourages anyone planning a simcha to contact them.
