Bergen County Flag Football League: Week VI

This week’s spotlight game takes us back to the state-of-the-art Vince Lombardi Memorial Field in Palisades Park. The heavily favored 7/8 Chiefs sporting a league-leading 4-1 record matched up with the 7/8 Seahawks entering the game with a 1-4 record. The Chiefs were short handed but the squad that was assembled came to play. The game was close at the half, 14-13 Chiefs, and remained close throughout the second half. Fast forward to the final 90 seconds of the game, the Seahawks were up six and looked like they were going to be pulling off the upset of the day. The Chiefs switched into their patented hurry-up offense and marched up the field with Rafi Karasick connecting with Zach Field multiple times. With 30 seconds to play the Chiefs were at the Seahawks’ 30, looking to score once to tie the game. Field took over as the quarterback and the coach called for a hail mary. Field aired it out and it was pulled in for a touchdown by Chiefs’ receiver Mordechai Zachter as the clock expired. Field hit Karasick for the go-ahead point to the amazement of all assembled.

On the same field, less than an hour later, Zachary Cohen put on a show of his own, leading the 7/8 Patriots over the Giants with five touchdowns and five picks.

The action continues in Sunday as all teams gear up for the postseason with their final regular season games
