Dr. Dovid Lieberman to Be Scholar-in-Residence at Beth Aaron This Shabbat

On Shabbat, September 16 and 17, Dr. Dovid Lieberman will be the Scholar-in-Residence at Congregation Beth Aaron. On Friday evening at 9:15 p.m., his topic will be “If God Was Your Therapist.” Following the Main Minyan on Shabbat, he will discuss “Harmony in the Home,” and at 5:30 p.m., the theme will be “How Free Will Works: The Blueprints to Take Charge of Your Life, Health and Happiness.” Following the 6:35 p.m. Mincha, his topic will be “Successful Relationships with Difficult People.” For more information on Dr. Lieberman, go to http://drdavidlieberman.com.

Gun Violence Prevention Advocate Tells ‘A Mother’s Story’ for NCJW Study Group

Lois A. Schaffer, a gun violence opponent, talks about the pain of losing a child to gun violence in her book “A Mother’s Story.” The NCJW study group will take place on Tuesday, September 27, at 1p.m. at The Shops of Riverside Conference Center, Lower Level, Hackensack. J-ADD to Hold 14th Annual Walk-A-Thon

J-ADD will hold its 14th annual walk-a-thon on Sunday, October 30, at Van Saun Park in Paramus. The day will also feature a carnival, life-size games, prizes and refreshments.

Rena Ariel to Speak in Memory of Slain Daughter Hallel

This Shabbat, Shmuel, Judy and Ari Davidovics of Englewood will be hosting the Ariel family. Tragedy struck the family, including their two surviving daughters, 8 and 4, a little over a month ago when their 13-year-old daughter Hallel Yaffa was murdered in her bed in her home by a terrorist. Rena Ariel will be speaking about “Emunah in the Face of the Unfathomable.”

The schedule will include Friday night between Mincha and Maariv at East Hill Synagogue, Shabbat morning at Shomrei Emunah at 9:30 a.m., The Benaroya Sephardic Center after Torah reading and Congregation Ahavath Torah at seudah shlishit.

Yesh Tikva Offers Phone Lecture Series

Just in time for the holidays, Yesh Tikva will offer a holiday recharge phone lecture series. The first will be held on September 14 and will be for women only. This lecture, given by Yoetzet Shoshana Samuels, is entitled “Finding New Meaning at the Mikvah.” The second lecture will be given by Dvora Entin, LCSW, on September 21 and is entitled “Strengthening Your Relationship During Fertility Challenges.” The final lecture in the series will be given on September 28 by Dr. Daniel Hoffman, PhD ABPP, and is entitled “Facing Another Rosh Hashana With Empty Arms.” The lectures will be given from 8:30-9:30 on each of the Wednesday evenings. Bergenfield Shuls to Host Women’s Shiur With Rebbetzin Elisheva Kaminetsky

Congregations Ohr HaTorah and Beth Abraham will sponsor a shiur this Shabbat, September 17, at 5 p.m. at Ohr HaTorah, at 36 Rector Court. The speaker is the always inspiring Rebbetzin Elisheva Kaminetsky. Her topic is “Listening to the Shofar’s Message.”

Rebbetzin Kaminetsky is the director of religious guidance and a Tanach teacher at the Stella K. Abraham Girls High School in Long Island. A kallah teacher and popular lecturer, Kaminetsky holds a BA from Stern College, and an MA in education from Azrieli Graduate School at Yeshiva University. She attended the Michlalah Seminary in Israel, and is married to Rabbi Yisroel Kaminetsky, who is Menahel of DRS High School in the Five Towns. They live in Woodmere with their six children. Rebbetzin Kaminetsky, as well as her husband, grew up in Teaneck.
