Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Hi! No need for me to explain the answers to last week’s Cuff Links (the Batman logo) because Harry Glazer and Daniel Davis wrote in with it, and then some! And I quote:

  1. Batman is referred to as “The Dark Knight,” which is an apt description of Makas Choshech.
  2. The last three plagues were quite onerous and could be termed Ben Affleck-tions on the Egyptians.
  3. Bruce Wayne chose to model his costume on a bat, as a means of striking fear in the hearts of criminals. Similarly, Hashem’s declared goal in the parsha is to instill fear of Him in the hearts of the Egyptians.

And they threw in a fun fact: The actor Val Kilmer appeared as Batman in the film “Batman Forever” (1995) and was also the actor who provided the voice for Moses in the animated film “The Prince of Egypt” (1998).

Now that’s playing! Thanks, guys!

Now let’s continue playing Linkeration! Parrot these up to this beak’s parsha, which should not fly over your head. If they do, well, I’ll be stork raven mad. These are not ostrich at all, so you should do well. If you can’t quack this case, that’ll be hawkward, but better luck nest time.

Shabbat shalom, everyone!

For years now, Martin Bodek has been wearing cuff links themed to the week’s parsha, to stimulate conversation around the Shabbat table. Naturally, it begged for a wider audience, and The Jewish Link seems like a perfect home—especially in name. Every week, we’ll present the cuff links, and you tell us how it ties in with the parsha of the week. Email your guesses, educated and otherwise, to [email protected] and we’ll publish the best and most creative answers a week later. Have fun!
