This year at BCHA, the school’s midot (virtuous character trait) theme is hakarat hatov which means “recognition of the good” and refers to the expression of thanks to Hashem for all of the good He does, and to anyone who has done something nice for someone else.
The eighth grade math class, taught by Mr. Bahar, learned a great lesson on sharing and gratitude while also learning about proportions and fractions. The students created a yummy appetizer—guacamole and chips—just in time for the holiday season. Reports from the scene say that it may have been the most delicious way to learn about fractions ever imagined, and the students were certainly grateful for the lesson. All the Bobcats enjoyed sharing the guac and planned to serve it at their Chanukah celebrations!
Second graders learned about and deeply understand the value of gratitude and the many blessings they receive each day. Under the thoughtful guidance of their teacher, Morah Mimi, the students worked together to prepare a delicious and heartwarming Thanksgiving feast to share with the entire grade. It was a meaningful celebration of thankfulness and community.
Finally, lower and middle school students gathered together for a Shir V’Ruach Gratitude Assembly, a powerful reminder of the importance of having gratitude in one’s heart. The purpose was to remind students of their responsibility as Jews to be kind, be grateful and to give thanks. Morah Maytal and musician Mr. Shmuely led the students in song and taught important lessons of how to show gratitude in meaningful ways.
