Bnai Yeshurun Hosts Summer Kollel Program

Congregation Bnai Yeshurun is hosting its annual beis midrash summer kollel and you are invited and encouraged to participate. Running Monday through Friday until July 27, the kollel is designed to meet the Torah study needs of the entire community. It encompasses daily formal shiurim, self-study in a beautiful and supporting environment, one-on-one chavrutot and/or informal study chaburot. The scheduling (day and evening) is very flexible. No prerequisites! No tests! No grades! No tuition! No traffic! Just talmud Torah.

The kollel meets in Bnai Yeshurun’s recently refurbished beit midrash from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and there is a night seder from 8 to 10 p.m. A daily shiur at noon by Rav Yaakov Neuburger (rosh yeshiva at Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, Yeshiva University, and spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Abraham in Bergenfield) will deal with various aspects of the mitzvah of tefillin. Friday mornings at 11 a.m. Rabbi Yaakov Werblowsky discusses the weekly Torah reading.

The kollel program is administered by Rabbi Jason Finkelstein, who would be happy to answer your questions and/or arrange a personal chavruta in line with your special interests. You can contact him at [email protected] or you can just “show up.”

The summer kollel is one of the highlights of Bnai Yeshurun’s year-round, multi-faceted beit midrash and adult education program. Included are weekly classes taught by Bnai Yeshurun’s rabbis and noted roshei yeshiva, a lunch and learn program, an early-morning kollel boker that convenes three days/week, daily Daf Yomi shiurim, periodic scholars-in-residence and a wide variety of guest speakers on topics of interest to the Jewish community.
