A Duck on a Bike? The BPY early childhood was buzzing with the news that the ducklings had arrived. Morah Jessica read the children a great book by author David Shannon called “Duck on a Bike.” The students were so inspired by this story and the fact that funny Duck wanted to ride a bike that they read the sequel, “Duck on a Tractor.” But then they immediately asked, what comes next?! Their morah answered “Why don’t you tell me?” So the students put their writing to work. They thought about what their duck would ride and then wrote about it. The students practiced using so many different writing skills! What a fun way to celebrate their writing. They made covers for their books by looking at pictures of ducks. Their teacher guided them in how to draw a duck outline. Then they added color and some feathers. Afterwards, the children added titles to their covers!
