Ben Porat Yosef fourth grade students had an interesting and educational experience on their trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island on Monday, June 5, following their in-class study of immigration. Students visited some meaningful and memorable exhibits, including a collection of passports from dozens of different countries, as well as luggage, clothing and religious articles from a variety of different cultures. They looked at pictures from early neighborhoods of immigrants that were established, and spent time viewing exhibits on the many different ships that sailed into Ellis Island from across the world. One of the highlights of the trip was the beautiful boat ride, where students saw, up close, the breathtaking “Lady” Liberty.
