BPY Second Graders Visit The Turtle Back Zoo

BPY’s second-grade students enjoyed a fabulous trip to the Turtle Back Zoo recently. The students successfully researched the individual animals that they are each studying in school, observing the animal’s exhibit, the animal itself and any information paired with the exhibit. Once each group completed their research, there was time to visit the rest of the zoo, explore the touch tank, and even ride the train.

The students also spotted many examples of animal enrichment. Some groups also visited the Sea Turtle Rescue and Recovery Center, where they learned about the amazing work the zoo does to rescue, help, and release sea turtles back into the wild. (The children look forward to a visit from the zoo in a few weeks, where they will get to hear more about their amazing sea turtle rescue efforts.) Throughout the day, the students asked thoughtful questions about the animals and exhibits they observed. BPY is so proud of these incredible thinkers. They look forward to applying their zoo observations to their final animal projects in the coming weeks!
