BPY Students Celebrate Mesibat Chumash

This past Sunday, the BPY second grade students celebrated with great excitement their wonderful Mesibat Chumash. The students put on a play about the unique journey of Avraham Avinu to the land of Israel that was promised to him, and about his courageous decision to leave what was familiar and well known to him to listen to Hashem’s commandment to go to the land of Yisrael despite all of the difficulties involved. The students also presented the story of the rivalry between the shepherds of Avraham and the shepherds of Lot and the ultimate reconciliation by choosing to split the different lands. The entire play was put on in fluent and clear Hebrew for which the students practiced diligently along with the English translation on the screens. At the end of the performance, which included songs, dances and an elaborate and artistic setting, each student read from either a Sephardic or Ashkenazi Torah a personal verse with tropes that the student had been practicing in school with the Chazan. The at end of the mesiba, each student received their personal Chumash which will accompany the students in their Torah learning. Mazal tov to these second graders who did such a wonderful job!
