Ben Porat Yosef third grade students worked in small groups to begin creating 3D models of the biomes they are studying, after first researching the topography and climate of each. Students used “mooshy gooshy,” a type of paper mache created with paper pulp and celluclay. In addition, they used tissue paper, crinkle paper, sand, rocks and other materials. They worked collaboratively and discussed how to make sure they were creating accurate representations, ensuring that they included all mountains, grass, water and areas of soil in their models. The students worked as teams with a lot of conversation, problem solving and critical thinking. They will build on these models as they continue their studies.
