Bruriah High School Celebrates Spirit Day

Last week, the Bruriah colors were on full display as each Bruriah student and faculty member wore their favorite Bruriah swag in honor of Spirit Day! Spirit Day is a celebration of Bruriah with incredible camaraderie, exciting competitions and unparalleled Bruriah ruach.

Spirit Day began with an apache race that spanned the entire Bruriah campus. The school was divided into two teams across the grades, and each team had to compete in a series of “pass the baton” style competitions, including three legged races, half court basketball shots, human pyramid making and bucket brigade. Then, after a break for some potato kugel and lunch, the students filled the bleachers in the gym for a faculty vs. student game of machanayim. Despite some incredible effort from the faculty, the student team emerged victorious.

Junior Shira Abramoff was struck by the positive competitive spirit, “I love how the competition was simultaneously so intense and so friendly.” Dena Lichtman, director of Student Life, explained that this is precisely the goal of the Spirit Day. “Spirit Day brings the entire school together in a way that promotes friendship and community. Spirit Day, like all of our student activities here at Bruriah, enables our students to form meaningful relationships and lasting memories that shapes their high school experience in an incredibly positive way.”
