For the first time in programming history, Bruriah is excited to introduce its new dance team! The dance team consists of three troops with two student captains per troop. Each troop represents a different style of dance in order to offer as much variety as possible. The different troops focus on hip hop, lyrical, and fusion—yet each troop is not limited to one type. The troops each have eight to 10 girls who are just as eager as their captains to be a part of the team. The captains are responsible for choreography, music and dance instruction.
Led by Coach Marla Rottenstrich and head Daphna Hagler (‘21), the team was started as a response to the student body’s eagerness to dance. The goal of the dance team is to create an outlet for girls who love to dance, offering them a vehicle for expressing their talents. There are over 30 clubs and committees at Bruriah. Like the other amazing programming opportunities, the dance team hopes to stimulate connection and collaboration between students of all grades. By the end of the year, the dance team plans to perform for peers and mothers in some way and intends to compete in coming years. The possibilities are endless for this new program addition and we wish each member luck and enjoyment as they express themselves in a creative way!
