Bruriah Runs Exciting Chanukah Programs

It didn’t seem like Bruriah couldn’t top its incredible Chanukah ruach with a fun Big Sister-Little Sister doughnut decorating activity, an inspirational yom iyun and a beautiful kumzitz, but the school went all out for the remainder of Chanukah.

The Bruriah Chanukah chagiga is easily one of the most anticipated days of the school year, and on Wednesday the excitement in the building was palpable as the girls donned their new Chanukah swag to prepare for an incredible concert with renowned singer, Yoni Z. With glowing lights, electrifying music and incredible ruach, the students got into the Chanukah spirit as they danced together and experienced a chagiga they will never forget.

On Thursday, it was time for Bruriah’s annual Privilege Sale where students individually, and as a group, bid on privileges offered by faculty members in an effort to raise money for tzedaka. The Privilege Sale affords an opportunity for students and faculty to connect with each other beyond the classroom as faculty members offer prizes like trips to lunch, the ballet or even ax-throwing, Cupcake Wars, shabbatons at their homes with friends and challah baking workshops. The Privilege Sale was a huge success with many thousands of dollars raised for tzedaka.

To top off a fabulous week, students showcased their achdus with the completion of their grades’ beautifully decorated hallways l’kavod Chanukah! They also enjoyed leibidik dancing in the hallways with Bruriah’s delicious potato kugel.

Bruriah is extremely grateful to Director of Student Life Dena Lichtman for curating such an incredible array of Chanukah programming that enhanced the spiritual aspects of the chag while also fostering grade camaraderie, friendship and pride in the school.
