Bruriah Sophomores Get a Head Start on Shabbat

There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of Shabbat which is why the sophomores at Bruriah have begun recreating it on Wednesday. The incredible program is called Toameha and it is led by the fantastic Rivky Schwartz. In addition to her responsibilities as the 10th grade Chumash teacher at Bruriah, Schwartz runs Toameha to spend time with her students outside of the classroom and share the kedusha of Shabbat with them. Every other Wednesday, Bruriah 10th graders gather in a room on the first floor to participate in the optional program. Toameha involves eating Shabbos food specially prepared by Schwartz, singing zemirot and learning a dvar Torah pertaining to Shabbat. Through this program students are given a beautiful way to prepare for the gift of Shabbat on Wednesday.
