Last week, Camp Dora Golding concluded an incredible first session. On Shabbos afternoon, after the three hours of Max Miles learning ended, there was a massive Shabbos party nosh siyum for all campers who completed learning a masechta of Mishnayos on Shabbos in camp.
Then Motzei Shabbos was the annual Max Miles Melava Malka. It was such a beautiful—and delicious—event. Hundreds of boys celebrated their voluntary learning this summer with a soda, steak and hot dog meal. The tons of candy lining the table wasn’t too shabby either.
Sunday was a busy day packing and playing league championships, followed by a delicious banquet dinner. Everyone then headed to the theater for a program that began with head counselor AC thanking all those who made the summer possible to thunderous applause. Then everyone took a trip down memory lane, with a great slide show and rewatching the weekly videos from this summer. After the trophy presentations for league champions, everyone were super hyped for the highlight of the night—no, the highlight of the summer—the Max Miles auction. The energy and excitement cannot be described with words. One prize after the next, thrilled winners of prizes ran onstage to claim their prizes. It was an amazing night.
Monday morning, campers sadly bid farewell to their friends who were leaving, and then welcomed new campers who joined for the second session.
