Camp Dora Golding Kicks Off 97th Year

After 96 years of successful camping, Camp Dora Golding knows a thing or two about running a successful camp season. Last week CDG kicked off its 97th year with gusto and excitement. Over 700 campers bounded off buses on opening day and packed its 156 lush acres of unparalleled beautiful grounds.

New for this summer is the Malchus Supreme travel program for campers coming out of ninth grade. They wasted no time kicking off with an opening night midnight swim and poolside BBQ.

Malchus Supreme campers’ first trip was to Philadelphia. They had a great time at Top Golf and enjoyed a special shiur from Rabbi Avraham Shmidman of the OU and rav at the Lower Merion Shul in Philadelphia. They then enjoyed watching the Phillies romp the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park. They ended the night by tailgating at the Phillies game and got back to camp past midnight with a surprise cholent waiting for them! This week campers are getting ready to head out on a three-day road trip to New England and Connecticut.

CDG not only provides fun and builds lasting memories, but the amazing staff knows how to inspire to grow in ruchnius as well. One of the many beautiful programs of CDG is the Friday afternoon ESPN (Enter Shabbos Properly Now) program. Forty-five minutes before Kabbalas Shabbos there is a completely optional learning program in the shul. You gotta see it to believe it. Hundreds of campers ready for Shabbos pack the shul, welcoming Shabbos with the sweet sounds of voluntary Torah learning. Following the learning a few prizes are raffled off. It is truly a beautiful and inspiring sight to behold and part of the magic of a Shabbos at CDG.
