Center for Food Action Holds Annual 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

The Center for Food Action (CFA) held their annual 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance event at the Englewood Field Club on Sunday, September 11. More than 200 volunteers dedicated their afternoon to packing snack bags in connection with CFA’s Weekend Snack Pack Program. In total, 4,000 bags, which contain food and beverage items, were packed and will be discretely distributed amongst qualifying local area students over the next few weeks.

Moshe Shoenfeld and Jaclyn Wildes began fundraising for this event last Spring when they set up a gofundme page and solicited donations from family and friends. As a result of the contributions they acquired, the teens were able to become sponsors in this event and the money they raised was used to help purchase the items. According to Moshe and Jaclyn, who also participated in assembling the bags, their involvement with the CFA, and this program in particular, made them realize that it is extremely important to give back to one’s community and that the act of helping others also gave the teens a sense of purpose.

And while Shoenfeld and Wildes have reached their own personal fundraising goal, the CFA still needs additional financial contributions to help keep this and other programs running.
