Chabad of Passaic County and The Wayne Y to Host Evening Of Chasidic Song and Film

The Chabad Center of Passaic County and the Wayne Y are pleased to announce the upcoming performance of Songs Of The Inspired Soul. This mix of live music and documentary filmmaking shares the backstory of age old chasidic melodies which were rediscovered in the 1950s. A multimedia production shares six of the niggunim (chasidic melodies) played by a live, classical, string quartet, each preceded by short film telling the story of how they were taught in the wee hours of Simchat Torah night during the early 1950s, and the stories taught together with them. Written as if a grandfather is sharing his memories with his grandson, this program also brings together film and the classical music of a string quartet to create a space where past and present join and uplift the soul.

The show will be performed at RosenPac in the Wayne Y on Saturday night, October 5. Refreshments will be served at 8 p.m. and the show will begin at 8:30 p.m.. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Sponsorships (which include two front row seats) are available. Visit metroymcas.org/rosenpac or jewishwayen.com to purchase tickets.
