(Courtesy of Chabad of West Orange) Rabbi Mendy Kasowitz of Chabad West Orange led two joyous Chanukah celebrations on Thursday, Dec 26. The first was at West Orange Town Hall and the second was held at Roseland Borough Hall. These lightings continue the legacy of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who pioneered the concept of public menorah lightings. As he lit the menorahs, Rabbi Kasowitz reminded everyone to keep the hostages in their thoughts and prayers, hoping for their safe return.

The event was attended by local officials and community members. In West Orange, Mayor Susan McCartney and town council members joined in the celebration, while in Roseland, Mayor James Spango and community members came together to mark the occasion.

Inspired by the Rebbe’s vision of spreading light and joy, the community came together to promote goodness, kindness and unity. The public menorah lightings serve as a beacon of hope and resilience, illuminating the darkness and inspiring all who participate.
