Bergen County CHADD Expert Speaker Series will continue with Caroline Maguire, MEd, ACCG, PCC speaking about ADHD and social skills and relationships on Monday, Feb. 6 from 8-9:15 p.m. via Zoom. She will help answer parents’ questions including, “Does your child have a hard time making and keeping friends? Should you step in? If so, when? And do what?”
Attendees will learn to:
- Understand how executive function challenges directly affect social skills.
- Coach a child or teen to initiate connection and express needs with peers and adults.
- Identify and harness their child’s special talents to problem solve, make friends and build self-confidence.
- Explore the evidence-based coaching techniques that have been shown to help struggling children and teens with ADHD.
- Identify the roadblocks that can get in the way of open communication, and how to get around them.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. The meeting is open to all who seek support and information, including parents, clinicians and teachers.
