LPS was fortunate this week to welcome a very special guest to the school, Chana Stiefel, an author of many books and articles for children. She is featured in National Geographic Magazine for Kids as well in various Scholastic Publications. Ms. Stiefel graciously offered to speak to the LPS students. She talked about her writing process, the publishing process and how she comes up with her ideas for books and articles. The first and second graders were very excited to see a mock up of Ms. Stiefel’s newest children’s book; they previewed it on the SmartBoard. LPS children were the first children to see the illustrations and text of this book and they relished the fact they they were privy to “the secret” of the new book. Ms. Stiefel is a Bergen County resident and a friend of LPS.
