Color War Breaks Out at Bruriah

Red, yellow, blue and green assumed a greater significance at Bruriah recently than just being four colors on the color wheel. “Aish,” “Ruach,” “Mayim” and “Adama” competed in Bruriah’s quadrennial color war! Aish, the red team, was assigned to the seniors under the command of general Gabi Landau and her captains Aliza Kurtz, Talya Markowitz and Shoshana Sudwerts. The juniors competed under the yellow banner and were led by general Mindy Engel and her captains Lily Lightman, Eliana Mozorosky and Arielle Weiss. The sophomores operated in a sea of blue and took their direction from general Dina Rothwachs and her captains Adina Fried, Bracha Gluck and Hannah Grayman. General Esther Sebbag and her captains Rena Feldman, Aliza Walzman and Tamar Wiederkehr mobilized the freshman green team on the ground.

Each team had a situation room to which it retreated to strategize for competitions that gave each student an opportunity to use her skills and talents. In only 17 school hours, the teams wrote songs and cheers, choreographed stomp, painted banners, trained for sports and studied for Chidon HaTanach all to be performed in front of judges. The hallways were a rainbow of flurry and activity as students hurriedly moved from planning session to practice to competition. Teams good-naturedly rooted for each other then put on their game faces while competing. It was a tense 17 hours, but in the end “Aish,” the seniors’ team, pulled off an incREDible victory.
