Sharon and Arnold Cohen of South Orange have announced the engagement of their daughter, Rina Malia Cohen, to Eric Jacob Weil, the son of Steven Weil and Bena Hoberman Weil of Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Rina graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood before earning her Bachelor of Arts from the School of Theatre, with a minor in communications and the entertainment industry from the Annenberg School at the University of Southern California. Eric graduated from Fair Lawn High School and then Boston University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in film and television.
Eric became an assistant in the comedy touring department of United Talent Agency in Los Angeles, where 10 months later Rina joined the company and was assigned the desk directly behind his. The two started dating soon after. The couple worked together for about a year before leaving UTA to start the jobs they currently hold: Rina now works in television development for Sony Crackle in Culver City, California, and Eric works in television development for Paramount TV in Hollywood, California. The couple got engaged in the same location where they had their first date: The Hollywood Improv Comedy Club, where Eric produces a monthly stand-up show. A spring 2019 wedding is being planned.
It has been an exciting year for the Cohen family. The Cohens’ son, Judd, was married in November to Dena S. Balk of Shaker Heights, Ohio. The couple met at the Hillel at Case Western Reserve University from which they both graduated and earned advanced degrees. Judd received a degree in law, magna cum laude, and Dena received an MS in social administration. The couple is now living in Portland, Oregon, where Judd is an associate at Fisher Phillips.
