Cong. Rinat Yisrael Hosts Dr. Irit Felsen for Yom HaShoah Commemoration

In commemoration of Yom HaShoah, the Adult Education Committee of Cong. Rinat Yisrael presents Dr. Irit Felsen, therapist and renowned researcher of the trauma of the Holocaust, on Sunday evening, April 23, at 8:00 p.m., addressing, “The Effects of the Holocaust on the Children of Survivors: A Tale of Courage.”

Irit Felsen is a clinical psychologist specializing in trauma and traumatic loss, with a special focus on Holocaust survivors and their families. She holds a PhD from the University of Hamburg, an MA degree from the Hebrew University and did her postdoctoral training at Yale University.

Dr. Felsen is in private practice in New Jersey and serves as an adjunct professor at Yeshiva University. She is a board member of the Holocaust Council of Greater MetroWest and a member of the NGO on Mental Health in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations, the National Center for Crisis Management and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, while also serving on a national emergency response team for the delivery of services following critical incidents. Her research has been published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, the Journal of Psychotherapy Research and the Journal of Self, Psychoanalysis and Context and wrote a chapter included in the International Handbook of Multi-Generational Legacies of Trauma. Dr. Felsen is a researcher with the Yale University Trauma Study Group and was the clinical coordinator of services for Holocaust survivors at the Jewish Family Services of MetroWest in New Jersey.
