Cong. Rinat Yisrael Presents Scholars in Residence

Ari Sacher, Iron Dome system project manager, and Tova Sacher, University of Haifa, will speak at Cong. Rinat Yisrael on Shabbat, June 24, and Sunday, June 25.

Ari Sacher is a rocket scientist who has worked in the design and development of missiles for over 20 years and served as the project manager for Iron Dome. He has briefed hundreds of US lawmakers on Israeli Missile Defense, including briefings on Capitol Hill at the invitation of the House Majority Leader and Israeli Ambassador. He speaks regularly for the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

Tova Sacher graduated from Bar Ilan Law School and worked as a city prosecutor for 10 years. She is completing her doctorate on Midrash Tanhuma from the Cairo Genizah and coordinates the Center for Interdisciplinary Research of the Genizah at the University of Haifa.

The weekend’s schedule will be as follows:

Ari Sacher will speak on Shabbat morning at both the 8:30 and 9:00 minyanim, discussing “The Best Offense Is a Good Defense—Why Only Yaakov Avinu Could Have Designed the Patriot Missile System.” He will speak again on Shabbat before mincha on “The Miracle of Iron Dome” and again after mincha on “Living on Autopilot—Why the Crash of a Jetliner Should Make Us Reconsider the Way We Live.”

On Sunday morning, Tova Sacher will speak at 8:45 on “Insights from the Cairo Genizah.”
