Coolkippahs Takes Home the MGBL 3rd/ 4th Grade Championship

The two teams took the court less than 24 hours after the thrilling double overtime 5/6 championship game. The previous night’s game was a tough act to follow, but this game had all of the ingredients to become an epic battle.

In a fast-paced up-and-down game, Jonny Levine’s 32 points led team Coolkippahs past Noam Wiener’s (game high 35 points) by 2 points. In a game that saw many lead changes and solid play from both teams, Eliezer Nat and Judah Milgram spent the whole game crashing the boards and battling each other for every rebound. The Terrapins half court pressure, applied by Noam Kornwassser and Binyamin Rubin, forced many turnovers. On the other side, Elias Segal and Stephan Neyowitz (always with a huge smile) picked off several Terrapin passes and converted them into Coolkippah baskets.

Team Coolkippahs finished the 3rd quarter up by 77 and extended its lead to double digits early in the 4th. Weiner then took his team on his back and lead the Terrapins on a run, bringing the game back to within 3 points with 1:05 left to play. The ensuing back and forth volley had the game coming down to a last second floater that didn’t fall, and the Coolkippahs took home the hard-fought championship.

Jonny Levine earned the MVP honors, but the the real winners were the spectators who had just witnessed 40 minutes of top-flight basketball.
