Curriculum Showcase at LPS Elementary

The second through fifth graders at Lubavitch on the Palisades School made their parents and teachers proud as they enthusiastically and confidently presented some of their favorite work and projects from the school year. The social hall at LPS was set up so that each child was able to showcase his or her work. Parents and siblings asked questions and listened to the students as they explained what they learned. Parent Iris Avni said, “What an unbelievable night! I learned so much from the kids. I learned interesting stuff about Bill Gates and whales that I never knew before.” Second graders presented animal projects and writing portfolios. Third graders presented biography projects, hydroponic projects and their own writing portfolios. Fourth graders presented their business projects and country brochures. Fifth graders presented ecosystem projects, landform projects and computer generated newspapers about the American Revolution and life in Egypt during the Exodus. There was also beautiful artwork displayed throughout the room and hallways. Morah Estyn Becker, an art teacher and graphic designer, taught the students about several artists including Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Kandinsky, O’Keefe and Klee, and they created extraordinary projects based on these artists’ works.

Tenafly Mayor Peter Rustin attended the event. He spoke to individual students about their projects, asked them questions and expressed his pride in their work and in their manner.
