(Courtesy of Cong. Adath Israel) Last Thursday night, over 25 men gathered at Congregation Adath Israel for the Daf Yomi Siyum on Masechet Ketubot. The festive catered event was enjoyed by all in attendance.
Most of those making the siyum learn at the shul’s regular Daf Yomi shiurim, ably led by Rabbi Jonathan Schwartz and other Magidei Shiur.
The event began with Maariv, followed by a catered fleishig dinner. Moshe Ambinder addressed the crowd and recited the Hadran. Prior to completing the Masechta and the Hadran, Ambinder pointed out two lessons found in Ketubot on daf 111b. The first note related to Rav Yochanan, who pointed out the importance of using a smile to influence friends. The second idea was a story of the teacher of Reish Lakish and Reish Lakish
and his classmates. The gist of this lesson was to highlight the great bounty of Eretz Yisrael, and how the consistency of daily learning makes all the difference.
The Adath Israel Daf Yomi groups proudly began learning Masechet Nedarim, and look forward to many future siyumim.
