Don Glaser Trio to Perform At Teaneck Library

The Don Glaser Jazz Trio will be performing at the Teaneck Public Library on Friday, February 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. The library is located at 840 Teaneck Rd., Teaneck, NJ, 201-837-4141. Glaser will be performing with Elliot Zigmund on drums and David Kingsnorth on bass.

Glaser’s style has been compared to the Nat King Cole Trio, and his singing reportedly reminiscent of Chet Baker, Michael, Franks, Bobby Troup and Mel Torme.

Glaser was selected as Jazz Musician of the Year in southern California, where he and his family lived before moving to Teaneck. One of his earlier CDs, entitled “Don Glaser,” featuring many of his own compositions, included Ray Brown, Bill Perkins, Paulinho da Costa and Shelly Manne, was designated Cashbox magazine’s “Feature Pick,” and received Grammy consideration. A subsequent CD, “Slices of Life,” features Ted Nash and Brian Lynch. Songs from both CDs can be found on Spotify, iTunes and YouTube.

His material includes standards by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins. His own whimsical original compositions speak of a variety of subjects such as “Strawberry Jam,” “Shopping,” “Moving,” “Love,” “Teaneck, NJ, “San Diego” and “Will I Ever Grow Up.”
