Don’t Forget About Bradley Beach

Here’s another reason to visit the Jersey shore: Bradley Beach. What’s striking about Bradley Beach is its laid-back attitude and down-to-earth vibe, coupled with miles of beaches and plenty of shopping, with Deal and Long Branch just minutes away. The Sheraton Hotel, located at 6 Industrial Way in Eatontown, is so close to Bradley Beach that one can spend the weekend there, jump in the car and, in minutes, be in the ocean in Bradley Beach.

Visitors can also get some takeout food from Day Slices on Norwood Avenue in Deal and have lunch on the beach with their families. They can spend an afternoon swimming and enjoy watching the seagulls dip in the ocean or eat little morsels on the beach that the swimmers and surfers leave behind.

People can walk the boardwalk after their swim and pick up a cone along the way and then head to the Asbury Park boardwalk to enjoy the Pinball Museum, which boasts so much fun for the whole family. With hundreds of pinball machines from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, the kids will enjoy trying to see if they can beat their parents’ score.

After a few hours of fun and games the kids would love to go bowling at the Bradley Beach bowling alley, which my son enjoyed when his camp took them last week. He said he beat the other campers, and invited me to join him for a day of fun there. So next week my son and I will head to the bowling alley, where I hope to get a few strikes.

I especially like to go to the boardwalk in Bradley at night for a long stroll and maybe to do some line dancing or disco dancing, listening to songs like “Night Fever” by the Bee Gees as the dance instructor does his best John Travolta imitation as he teaches some new moves and tricks.

Some people enjoy miniature golf, playing bocce or doing some running or biking to and from the boardwalk. Others drive from Bradley Beach to Atlantic City and get off at Exit 36 and enjoy the casinos, while others enjoy shopping at the clothing stores in Bradley or the local supermarket.

Whatever your pleasure, Bradley has a wonderful Sephardic shul with an Orthodox minyan located on Second Avenue, with Eddie sitting as president and founder of the shul where his sons Jimmy, David and Eli run the show.

Clearly, Bradley has something for everyone.

Please come and join the summer party as you swim in the Sheraton pool in the morning and head to a shul for Maariv or Arbit.

The surf is up, the summer is fun, and the community welcomes all to Bradley.
