(Courtesy of Englewood Rotary) The Rotary Club of Englewood will host its annual community awards dinner on Tuesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Englewood Field Club, 341 Engle Street in Englewood. Recognizing 30 years of women in Rotary, this year’s honorees are three women whose efforts have greatly enhanced the Englewood community: Lynne Algrant, Carol Rauscher and Dr. Lisa Wisotsky.
A resident of Englewood, Lynne Algrant served as councilmember-at-large on the Englewood City Council for six years, and served as council president for two of those years. She is currently the CEO of the Bergen Volunteer Center, a nonprofit organization located in Hackensack that aims to turn caring into meaningful action by engaging volunteers to meet community needs.
Carol Rauscher is president and CEO of the Englewood Chamber of Commerce, where she leads efforts to promote business growth, provide members with personal and professional development opportunities, affect public policy decisions to the benefit of Englewood’s business community and actively develop and promote community events to enrich the quality of life in Englewood. Before establishing an illustrious career in nonprofit and executive management, Rauscher’s first job out of college was as children’s librarian at the Englewood Public Library.
Dr. Lisa Wisotsky has worked as a consulting geriatric physiatrist at facilities in New Jersey and New York for over 22 years, and has shared her expertise and knowledge as past president, and member for over a decade, of the Englewood Board of Health. She is the founder and past president of Friends of the John T. Wright Arena, a nonprofit organization formed after Hurricane Sandy severely damaged the ice arena. “Friends” now has members from all wards and now provides numerous services, especially for school-aged youth. She also serves on the Flat Rock Brook Nature Association board of trustees.
Proceeds from the dinner will be returned to the community through support of Bergen Family Center, Southeast Senior Center for Independent Living, Arts Horizons, Interact Club at Dwight Morrow High School/Academies@Englewood, Community Chest Professional Development Institute, skating lessons for middle-school-age youth at the John T. Wright skating arena, Flat Rock Brook Nature Center and projects of Rotary International such as Gift of Life and Polio Plus.
