As summer winds down, although my favorite fall and winter fruits are apples, I know I will miss the fruit we have had, such as peaches, nectarines, plums and grapes. Before they leave the market, here are some yummy sauces to serve over ice cream, cake or pancakes.
4 servings
I found this is in a food magazine but I don’t know which one or when I clipped it.
2 T. butter or margarine
3 T. brown sugar
1 T. lemon juice
3 sliced medium-firm ripe peaches
1 t. vanilla
Serve over ice cream, plain cake or pancakes. You can also serve in small bowls and top with whipped cream or milk.
2 pounds quartered plums
¼ cup water
½ cup sugar
1 T. lemon juice
1 ½ T. cornstarch
This sauce is good over a cheesecake, ice cream or custard.

1 cup vanilla ice cream
¼ cup rum
Serve over pudding or fresh fruit.
1 1/3 pounds cantaloupe
4 T. confectioners sugar
