Environmental Protection Forum Will Be Held on October 7

On Sunday, October 7, at 1:30 p.m., the community is invited to a presentation and discussion entitled, “Our Fragile Ecosystem: An Environmental Protection Forum,” at Teaneck’s Rodda Center. The event is hosted by the Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee and is open to the public. It will cover a wide range of environmental concerns—from the local effects of global warming, to industrial pollution, to the preservation of open spaces such as the Hackensack River Greenway.

The forum will begin with updates from elected officials on their environmental agendas. Attendees will then break out into smaller discussion groups led by Jeff Tittel, senior director of the New Jersey Sierra Club; Paula Rogovin of the Coalition to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains; and Harriet Shugarman of Climate Mama. Leaders of other local groups will also be there to provide information on their activities, including Friends of the Hackensack River Greenway; Teaneck Creek Conservancy; NJ Food and Water, 360.org; and the Hackensack Riverkeeper.

For more information, call Alexandra Soriano-Taveras, Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee chairperson, at 917-502-0732.
