(Courtesy of JCC MetroWest) The board of trustees of JCC MetroWest is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric H. Koehler as the organization’s next chief executive officer. Koehler brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and experience from a long career in the JCC world, including serving as CEO of the JCC in Stamford, in Northern Virginia, and most recently, in Indianapolis. Under Koehler’s leadership, each of these JCCs experienced growth, expanded programming, reinvigorated fundraising, and, in the case of Indianapolis, successful navigation through the challenges of the COVID pandemic.
Koehler has served in various roles at JCCs on the East Coast and in the South since 1991. He grew up involved in the JCC world and, at 25, set the goal of becoming an executive director by age 35. Through hard work, mentors and good fortune, he achieved this goal. Originally from Massachusetts, Koehler graduated from Boston University with a B.A. degree in psychology. He earned an M.S. degree in counseling from Salem State College, concentrating in industrial organizational behavior.
“I know that once you meet Eric, you will feel as we do – that he is energetic, goal oriented, collaborative, engaging, financially astute, and deeply committed to Jewish communal work,” says Amelia Perlstein, board chair of JCC MetroWest.
Caren Ford, chair of JCC MetroWest’s CEO search committee, said, “In the beginning of the search process, the committee compiled a list of qualities that were most important to us in a CEO. We are pleased to announce that Eric embodies all of those qualities and more, and we are confident that he will successfully lead our JCC into the future. We are excited for the community to meet and get to know him.”
“I am thrilled to join the JCC MetroWest family,” said Koehler. “What excites me most about this opportunity is the immense impact JCCs have in shaping communities. Now, more than ever, JCCs play a crucial role in fostering unity, resilience and wellness. I am truly honored to be part of an organization that embraces inclusivity, promotes cultural understanding, and nurtures personal growth through a lens of Jewish values, culture and the State of Israel.”
